Privacy policy
Effective 5 October 2026
The short version: PageReel does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data. There is no account, no analytics and no server. Everything the extension captures stays in your browser.
What PageReel stores, and where
| What | Where | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Screenshots you capture and the notes you draw on them | Your browser's local storage for the extension (IndexedDB) | Deleted automatically after one day, or when you remove the extension |
| Two settings: whether to hide ads, and your language choice | Your browser's extension storage | Until you change them or remove the extension |
None of this is sent anywhere. PageReel has no server to send it to.
What PageReel does on a page
PageReel only acts on a page when you click its icon or use one of its keyboard shortcuts. When you do, it:
- measures and scrolls the page so it can be captured screen by screen;
- temporarily hides ad elements and pins sticky headers, if those are needed for a clean capture;
- takes the screenshots through Chrome's own capture feature;
- puts the page back the way it was.
It does not read form fields, passwords, cookies or browsing history, and it does not run in the background on pages you have not asked it to capture.
Permissions and why they are needed
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| activeTab | To capture the tab you are looking at, only after you click the icon or press a shortcut. |
| scripting | To scroll and measure the page during a full-page capture, hide ads and draw the area selector. |
| storage | To remember the two settings above. |
| unlimitedStorage | Long pages produce large images, which can exceed the default storage limit before they are stitched. |
| Access to all sites (optional) | Only requested if you press “Allow on all sites” after Chrome reports that its one-time access to a tab was not in effect. You can withdraw it at any time in the extension's details. |
Clipboard
PageReel writes an image to your clipboard only when you press Copy. It never reads the clipboard.
Feedback form after uninstalling
If you remove PageReel, Chrome opens a short feedback form hosted on Google Forms. Filling it in is optional. If you do, your answers (and your email address, only if you choose to give it) are stored by Google and read by us, solely to improve the extension. Nothing is sent if you close the form.
Third parties
The extension contains no third-party code, advertising or tracking, and loads nothing from the network.
This website
This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics; its fonts and video are served from the site itself. GitHub, as the host, may log technical details such as your IP address, as described in GitHub's privacy statement.
Children
PageReel is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children. Because it collects no personal data, it collects none from children.
Changes to this policy
If the policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date. A change that affects how data is handled would also be announced in the extension's store listing.
